How Referrals Are Tracked

Self-serve8–12 min readReferral Program

This module explains the technical mechanics of how your referrals are tracked, attributed, and confirmed — so you understand exactly when and why you earn a commission.

Your referral link

After joining the referral program (apply at referral.html), you receive a unique referral URL formatted as: app.leadgenai.com/ref/YOUR_CODE

Share this link anywhere — email, LinkedIn, blog posts, newsletter, YouTube description. When someone clicks it, a tracking cookie is set on their browser.

Cookie window

The tracking cookie persists for 90 days from the first click. If someone clicks your link today and signs up any time in the next 90 days, the referral is attributed to you — even if they browse the site multiple times and don't sign up immediately.

What counts as a conversion

Trial sign-ups do not generate commission. Commission is earned when your referral converts to a paid plan and completes their first billing month. This protects against commission fraud from trial-only sign-ups.

Multi-touch attribution

If someone clicks your link, then later clicks another person's referral link before signing up, the last click wins. Your commission is confirmed if your link was the last one clicked before their sign-up.

Tracking transparency

Your referral dashboard shows: total link clicks, trial sign-ups attributed to you, confirmed paid conversions, and pending vs. confirmed commissions. Data updates within 24 hours of each event.
